The bad news: Porsche has a small CUV in the works. The good news: new chief Matthias Mueller is in the process of reviewing Porsche’s projects and may pull the plug on the baby Cayenne.

The Porsche Cayenne was an atrocious bastardization of a timeless brand, so forgive us if we’re a little less than thrilled with the idea of a crossover version underneath it. According to Inside Line, Porsche originally planned on launching a concept version of the crossover-known as the Cajun (that’s not helping)-next year, with production scheduled for 2012. However, Mueller recently indicated to Autocar that the company may put the kibosh on the CUV or at least delay it. Its fate remains up in the air.

If the Cajun gets the go-ahead it may feature two doors rather than four and will be given a twin-turbo six-cylinder. It would share underpinnings with the Audi Q5. [via InsideLine]
