G-Power Delivers ‘World’s Fastest’ Four-Seat Coupe

Tuesday, November 16, 2021 5:58PM - By Chris Weiss

Thanks to G-Power, BMW’s are gaining all kinds of titles. Back in August, we saw the world’s fastest sedan, and now G-Power is back with what it calls the world’s fastest four-seat coupe. The tuner used the same supercharged 800-hp version of BMW’s 5.0-liter V10 that it used in the M5 Hurricane RR to create the M6 Hurricane RR. It also added a new carbon fiber front skirt and rear spoiler to increase aerodynamics. Other modifications are similar to the M5 version and include a coilover suspension system with adjustable height, high performance braking and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The claimed world fastest time leaps just over 229 mph-pretty damn fast for a BMW four-seater. As is always the case, you’ll be paying heartily for all that performance: price is expected around $345K. [via AutoMotto]

Toyota Continues Prius MPV Puzzle Teaser

Wednesday, November 3, 2021 4:42PM - By Chris Weiss

When we saw the first billboard-styled teaser for the Prius MPV, we could make out a puzzle theme. And indeed, in its latest teaser, Toyota made it clear that it plans to stick with the whole puzzle thing, showing a puzzle-piece-shaped teaser image depicting the push-button ignition and some audio controls.

Toyota does realize that the world isn’t really that excited about the Prius MPV, right? So to tease it in the form of something even less exciting-a puzzle-just doesn’t seem like the way to hype its big Prius up. Unless of course, it plans to only sell Prius MPVs to the old ladies that still enjoy a good puzzle.

Hopefully the readers will forgive us, but we think we’ll be skipping the rest of the puzzle teasers. [via Carscoop]

tesla tag heuer 630 10 of the Hottest High End Car Inspired Watches

If there are two material things that discerning men love, they’re hot cars and hot watches (plastic boobs aren’t bad, either). Women get to wear all kinds of jewelry, but for men, the watch is really the primary way to dress up an otherwise dull outfit. The same types of things that make supercars great-precise design and engineering, top-end materials like titanium, leather and carbon fiber and a careful eye for aesthetic detail-also separate the most exclusive timepieces from the rest of the pack. It’s no surprise, therefore that the two industries often collaborate to give us some of the most stunning (and expensive) timepieces in the world. Here’s a look at 1o of our recent favorites.

Highway of Dread: 9 Horrifying Drivers To Stay Far Away From

road rage1 Highway of Dread: 9 Horrifying Drivers To Stay Far Away From

Last week, a survey by Wales-based insurance company GoCompare found that BMW drivers are the most awful, dreaded drivers on the streets of Great Britain. While that’s about as surprising as the rumors that Christina Aguilera broke up with her hubby because she’s a sex-hungry skank, it’s good just the same to get some hard evidence for a fact that otherwise begs to be taken for granted.

While I had a hearty chuckle at the survey’s finding, I thought about it and realized that horrible, horrible drivers are a phenomenon that cut across makes and models. While BMW drivers are often blazing a-holes, they aren’t the drivers that most make me want to curl up in the fetal position and call out sick from work for years straight to avoid. No, those types of drivers don’t drive any specific car, but share some more unsavory traits. Here’s a look at my least favorite drivers to encounter on the road.

Frightening In-Vehicle Technologies That Could Spell Future Disaster

Thursday, October 21, 2021 1:49PM - By Chris Weiss

Last year, an industry-rattling study from the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute showed that those that text while they drive are 23 times more likely to crash than those that don’t. Following those findings, federal, state and local governments have been burning the midnight oil drafting tougher legislation and regulations to ban and penalize texting and other distractions while driving.

Meanwhile, the ever-industrious auto industry has been busy giving us a whole next generation worth of distractions that will likely be the subject of future studies and laws. Hidden behind thin reasoning that in-vehicle technology will streamline things people are already doing behind the wheel, automakers like Chevy and Ford have been busy merging mechanics and electronics in such offerings as in-vehicle Wi-Fi and voice-based social networking. In fact, earlier this month, the Consumer Electronics Show announced that it plans to expand this year’s in-vehicle technology exhibit for the 2011 show in January because the auto industry is just bursting at the seams with “valuable” new consumer technologies.

Spyker Releases Limited Edition Timepieces

Wednesday, October 20, 2021 4:20PM - By Chris Weiss

If there’s one thing that gets my heart beating nearly as fast as a 650-hp cherry red supercar, it’s a high-end, special-edition timepiece. Nothing with fancy diamonds, jewels or any effeminate nonsense-just a high quality, Swiss-tuned analog watch that looks good with anything from a tuxedo to a pair of jeans and T-shirt.

Combining these two enclaves of male fascination, Dutch supercar manufacturer and Saab owner Spyker has launched its own line of fine watches. Manufactured by Geneva-based Thierry Chaunu of Expression D’Artistes International, the watches feature Spyker-badged bezels, hand-stitched leather bands and a variety of components that take inspiration from Spyker design like its aero-inspired logo and exhaust pipes.

Conan O’Brien Blows Up 1969 Dodge Dart

Friday, October 15, 2021 4:04PM - By Chris Weiss

There’s only a few weeks left until Conan O’Brien returns to the air on TBS. Even if you don’t like CoCo, you’re probably just a little curious to see what he’ll have up his sleeve to compete with Leno and the other network late night shows. Well, if a new promo featuring him beating up his stunt double and Thelma/Louising a gas-covered Dodge Dart trunk-loaded with explosives off a 900-foot cliff is any indication, Conan’s bringing his A game.

Conan’s been a rather polarizing-type figure (as anyone in his position would have been) since taking over for Jay Leno and subsequently leaving NBC, so those that love him will probably love this promo and those that don’t will find some reason to dislike it. But it’s sure a different take on the TV show promo. Continue and play. [via AutoBlog]

Fast ‘N Fugly: The Worst-Looking Supercars Of The Past 10 Years

Thursday, October 14, 2021 2:03PM - By Chris Weiss

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin-it’s become almost an unspoken rule that with great power comes great beauty. Supercars can be defined not only in terms of large engines and tiny 0 to 62 times, but in terms of curvaceous, flowing, satisfying looks.

Often, but not always. There are derivative designs, there are supercars with “great personalities” and then there are the ones that make you want to curl up into the fetal position and bawl until something beautiful happens. Representing the last faction, these uggos are here to remind us that all the speed and power in the world can’t make up for devastatingly flawed looks. They have the engines, aerodynamics and price tags to be called supercars, but you still wouldn’t be caught dead in one. What their looks do well is make us appreciate the Vantages and 599s that much more.

Katy Perry is British Drivers’ Dream Passenger

Wednesday, October 13, 2021 4:28PM - By Chris Weiss

It appears that British drivers enjoy driving around with pulsating blue balls. In a recent poll conducted by the MPH the Prestige & Performance Motor Show, British male drivers selected Katy Perry as the female they’d most like to have in the passenger seat. The men’s car of choice was a Lamborghini Gallardo. In a rather cheeky double entendre, the poll findings said that Perry “”beat off stiff competition to become the favorite.”

Women, on the other hand, chose Robert Pattison of Twilight fame in a Ferrari 458 (sounds like a new version of Clue).
