G-Power Delivers ‘World’s Fastest’ Four-Seat Coupe

Tuesday, November 16, 2021 5:58PM - By Chris Weiss

Thanks to G-Power, BMW’s are gaining all kinds of titles. Back in August, we saw the world’s fastest sedan, and now G-Power is back with what it calls the world’s fastest four-seat coupe. The tuner used the same supercharged 800-hp version of BMW’s 5.0-liter V10 that it used in the M5 Hurricane RR to create the M6 Hurricane RR. It also added a new carbon fiber front skirt and rear spoiler to increase aerodynamics. Other modifications are similar to the M5 version and include a coilover suspension system with adjustable height, high performance braking and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The claimed world fastest time leaps just over 229 mph-pretty damn fast for a BMW four-seater. As is always the case, you’ll be paying heartily for all that performance: price is expected around $345K. [via AutoMotto]

venomGt2 Hennessey GT to Debut at the SEMA Show

The SEMA show begins next week and one of the most interesting cars there will be the Hennessey Venom GT, which the company announced will be make its debut on November 2. If you’ll recall, the Hennessey GT is the Frankenstein of supercars: 1,200-horsepower worth of twin-turbocharged 6.2-liter V8 LS9 power shoved into the middle of a Lotus Evora chassis. Combining the tiny, light chassis with carbon fiber, aluminum and titanium design, Hennessey kept weight down to 2,685 lbs., delivering a staggering 2.24 lbs per hp figure.

Hennessey didn’t release any performance figures with its announcement today, but past figures put the Venom GT at 62 mph in 2.4 seconds and projected a top speed at 262 + mph. Only 10 will be built annually. [via SF Gate]

World’s Worst Mods: 1994 Lambomaro

camaroghini 02 Worlds Worst Mods: 1994 Lambomaro

The Camaro may not be a Lamborghini, but it is a pretty iconic muscle car all its own. So, if you’re going to kit the thing over to look like something else, at least be sure to do it right.

This owner didn’t do it right. In fact, he did it dead wrong. In what looks like something that was designed out of paper mache for a 5th grade art project, this ugly monster is one car hack’s take on a 1994 Camaro-Z28-based Lamborghini Gallardo. In short, it’s an awful idea with even worse execution. And the name is equally bad: the Rev Angel.

Hennessey to Offer Its 750-HP HPE700 LS9 Camaro in Both Hard-Top and Convertible

Wednesday, October 6, 2021 4:06PM - By Chris Weiss

The 6.2-liter V8 engine of the Neiman Marcus Camaro Convertible not quite cutting it for you? How about replacing it with a Hennessey-tuned supercharged 6.2-liter V8 LS9 from the Corvette ZR1. That’ll get ya 745 horses and 763 lb-ft of torque. It’ll also get ya to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. And Hennessey plans to offer all that capability in both hard and soft-top Camaros.

Gemballa Makes a Comeback Under New CEO

Monday, August 23, 2021 5:15PM - By Chris Weiss

Back in May, German tuner Gemballa shut down suddenly as its owner and founder-Uwe Gemballa-remained missing since February. Mr. Gemballa is still MIA, but the tuning shop that bears his name is now back on the rails. Andreas Schwarz is the new CEO, and he and investor Steffen Korbach purchased the rights and assets of the company, intending to bring it back to tuning. The first model from the restructured company is expected in October.

The reopening of Gemballa, a tuner that’s had it’s share of hits and misses-much like most tuners, is the latest chapter in an odd saga that began this past winter. Uwe Gemballa went missing in February after a scheduled meeting with potential investors in South Africa. The disappearance appeared to be a kidnapping, but happened at a time that Gemballa was going bankrupt, casting question and doubt all over it. Gemballa subsequently shut down three months later. World’s Fastest Sedan

Friday, August 20, 2021 2:56PM - By Chris Weiss

G-Power announced today what it’s calling the world’s fastest sedan. The German tuner turned the BMW M5 into an 800-hp beast known as the Hurricane RR, and captured a track time of 231.2 mph-in a two-ton sedan! While it doesn’t appear the time was independently verified, that’s still a lot of mph’s for a four-door.

CDC Pontiac “Firebreather” Trans Am Kit Now Available

Tuesday, August 10, 2021 5:00PM - By Chris Weiss

Way back in the frosty days of February, we saw a roughly camoed Firebird-kitted Camaro that was identified by the name “FireBreather.” We knew then that the kit was made by Classic Design Concepts for a movie from Exxodus Pictures, but we didn’t know it was going to be on sale.

Well, now we do. And so do you. The Firebreather is being offered in a limited edition, 50-model release for a cost of $60,000. More than just a way of transforming your 2011 Camaro into a Firebird throwback, the FireBreather is a piece of movie memorabilia, assuming the movie “Jinn” is worth remembering.

Mansory S**ts All Over Bugatti Veyron

Friday, August 6, 2021 1:59PM - By Chris Weiss

Just a few days too late for our list of horribly modified supercars, this atrocity here is the new Bugatti Veyron Linea Vincero d’Oro from Mansory. What isn’t wrong with this picture? Excessive exterior carbon fiber, check. Faux-gold rims and accents, check. Ostrich-patterned, gold leather interior, check. Interior perimeter LED lighting, check again. Everything about this thing makes you feel a whole lot better about not being rich enough to afford something this awful.

Mansory has built one example of the Linea Vincero d’Oro and is hoping that there are enough tragically misguided individuals in this world to commission a few more. We’re hoping the exact opposite-pretty hard. [via Jalopnik]

Supercar Sacrilege! 10 Horrifically Ugly Modded Supercars

Sunday, August 1, 2021 5:45PM - By Chris Weiss

Exotic cars, whether of the sport or luxury variety, are the artful masterpieces of the highway. These vehicles excel beyond all others both in terms of styling and performance, and they don’t need any aftermarket attention to make people stare in envy. Unfortunately, that doesn’t stop tuners from trying.

With a proclivity for disaster, tuners have injected their own vision into these once-beautiful vehicles in an attempt to further enhance their illustrious beauty and brawn. Unfortunately, that didn’t go so well.

Mixing audacity, wasted skills and sheer, misguided insanity, each tuner involved in this list has failed pretty hard and executed unconscionable and egregious crimes against the automotive world.
